Water Street tells a story people can relate to – one of shifting identities, life’s ups and downs and emotional realness. Their emphatic message is delivered through a meticulously crafted dynamic soundscape with lush musical arrangements and introspective lyricism that sets them apart from other bands.
Formed in 2014, Water Street took its name from their practice location - a former auto-body shop, turned into a music studio on Water Street in Blairstown, NJ. The band consists of cousins Dave Paulson (Acoustic Guitar/Vocals) and Julia Aiello (Vocals), with Connor Konecnik (Drums), Eddie Woodcock (Electric Guitar). After the release of their 2023 single Carolina, the band signed with Philadelphia indie label Free Dive Collective.
Fast forward to 2025, with the release of their latest album Alone in a Crowded Place, Water Street’s evolution as a band becomes evident in this collaborative effort that now shapes their sound – its members hailing from dynamic backgrounds, seamlessly coming together to create their distinctive musical identity and relatable soulful music.
Inspired by their roots in the northwest hills of New Jersey, Water Street delivers a signature ability to blend genres, combining textured elements of Folk and Indie/Americana/Pop Rock with honest lyrics and undeniably gorgeous harmonies. Reflective acoustic strums play seamlessly alongside soft electric guitar riffs and energetic bursts of bass groove, atmospheric keys and driving rhythms. Their tracks are captivating and impactful – the kind that stick with you long after the first listen. Whether listening to their music or watching one of their performances, it’s clear that Water Street is a band that values intricate precision and depth, each part of each song carefully placed to complement their extraordinary sound. A sound both energizing and mesmerizing, bringing something nostalgic yet refreshing, blending genres while not contained or defined by one – indeed bending them as they go. You’ll want to go with them on their journey.
“Water Street has been around for a while but seems to have found their stride…a brighter more Pop-focused sound has emerged and caught the attention of a growing fan base…This is not just a band of kids trying to get attention anymore. Water Street pours out emotion and welcomes listeners to come for the ride. This is Power-pop songwriting at its best!” - Keith Pro, Indie Band Guru
